bloompaw The sun had only just creeped past the horizon an hour ago, and already the heat of the summer was starting to fill the forest. It was going to be a beautiful day in the Thunderclan territory, if not a terribly warm one, and Bloompaw was planing on taking advantage of it. She had left the camp with the hope to explore the territory a bit on her own, teach herself things and visit the places in the stories that the elders always gossiped about. When she left her bed in the apprentice's den she quietly stepped past sleeping cats in the den with her: her brothers included. Taking care not to wake the two. After all, the last thing she needed was for Brackenpaw to tag along with Oakpaw in tow. Not that she didn't adore her siblings, but when together they tended to attract... mischief. And Bloompaw tried to stay as far away from mischief as she possibly could. It was time consuming in the worst way and got cats in trouble with Badgerstar. As Badgerstar's apprentice she preferred to be on the "right side of the law."
Bloompaw moved through the forest on small, quiet paws. Her ears pricked as she listened to the sounds of the forest and the creatures within it. Voles scuffling across the forest floor, and squirrels shaking the tree limbs as the bounced from one to another. Pride pricked in her as she was able to recognize the different sounds of a few of the prey animals in the forest. She was on her way to becoming a warrior of Thunderclan already.
As she neared the old thunderpath a different kind of smell reached her nose, but it was faint. It was the smell of the thunderpath, she recognized it from passing through here once or twice before with patrols. Her amber eyes gazed across the old thing. It looked odd and like it didn't belong. The whole thing made her uneasy. She focused in on the path intently, gingerly stepping onto it. She brought her nose down to sniff it and scrunched her nose at the scent. When a rabbit bounded across the old path and scared Bloompaw out of her wits. She leaped into the air in a puff of fur, her tail's fur completely on end. When she realized what it was she immediately felt foolish. At least there was no other cat to catch the composed Bloompaw so undignified.

Brackenpaw woke up with bleary eyes and a bad taste in his mouth. Not the most glamorous way to start a day, but he'd fix that with a fat mouse for breakfast. With a quick glance around the den, he saw the empty nest to his right. It was already cold. He almost never woke up before Bloompaw - sleeping in never seemed to be a morning priority for her. Man, she had no idea what she was missing out on.
After wolfing down a mouse, Brackenpaw looked around the camp. It was only morning, but he was ready for some action or something. Sure it was hot (like usual, the elders had planted themselves in the shade like sleepy slugs) but Brackenpaw's limbs were bursting with energy. No time for lying around today! As he often told Oakpaw, 'snoozers are for boozers'. They still hadn't figured out what the latter term was exactly, but he sure didn't want to be one.
Not wanting to wake up his brother, Brackenpaw decided to go chase down Bloompaw and see what she was doing. Maybe he could persuade her to climb a tree backwards, or something fun like that. If she was with her mentor - well, maybe he could join them. The more the merrier, eh?
He trotted out the camp, tail raised high, and tasted the air. Bloompaw's scent was thin and heavily intertwined with the other scents of the cats who had recently left the camp, but he was able to pick it out. The trail didn't meander through the trees too much - it was more focused, practical. It didn't veer out of the way like Brackenpaw's usually did. (Like when he saw the mouse that actually turned to be a leaf.)
He finally caught a glimpse of Bloompaw through the bushes, and felt victorious at his stealthy tracking. His sister was padding up to the old thunderpath - for what, he didn't know. He opened his mouth to call her name when a strong smell of rabbit flooded him - he looked around and saw one under the bush. Ahah! Say your last words, rabbit! Brackenpaw dropped into a crouch, but in his impatient, forgot to control his tail. The waving movement alerted the rabbit, and it burst away from him, streaking towards Bloompaw.
Brackenpaw was leaning back with disappointment when he saw it dash across the Thunderpath. He was unable to hold back a soft snort when Bloompaw jerked her nose back from the path and did a silly little leap in the air. Now, this moment was too good to pass up.
He stepped out from the trees, laughing. "Smoooooth!" He called out. Brackenpaw almost imitated her funny little leap - just for the kicks - but decided against it. Knowing Bloompaw, she wouldn't appreciate the beauty of his humor. "Could you do that again? I wanna show Oakpaw." Brackenpaw promptly sat down, attempting to look serious, but was unable to hide his twitching whiskers.
