I shouted out I loved you but you’re not here, you're not here
| Her silver pelt shone in the sun between the trees as she hunted. She had been hunting all morning for ThunderClan, now it was her turn. Her rumbling belly was telling her so. Anyone in ThunderClan knew that Silverflame preferred fresh prey that she caught herself, so it was no wonder she didn't ever take anything from the fresh-kill pile. Besides, that was for her clanmates. Her crystal blue eyes were locked onto a squirrel that was coming down from a tree toward a few nuts on the forest floor.
She remained quiet and still as stone, watching her prey. She checked the wind quickly and was relieved when it was blowing toward her. She moved forward slowly, placing her paws on the ground like feathers. The squirrel grabbed a nut in it's little paws and worked to get it open. It had no idea she was there. Quick as a snake, Silverflame shot across the ground. The squirrel dropped it's nut, racing for the tree. It reached the trunk and started upward when Silverflame leaped after it. Her claws dug into the wood as she grabbed the squirrel by the neck, giving the killing bite. A satisfying crack sounded and the squirrel went limp in her jaws. She purred with satisfaction, tail flicking happily. |

Mousewhisker was wandering through the winding trees of the forest, the sunlight warm on his back. He had just finished a long border patrol on the ShadowClan side, and was more than ready to catch the first squirrel that came his way. His stomach felt like an empty cavern, even though he had eaten just that very morning. Where's Silverflame? He hadn't seen her at all today, since he had the night watch last night and caught up on sleep just as the rest of the warriors were waking up.
Just as the thought passed through his mind, he came across the stale scent of Silverflame. He followed it curiously as it twisted through the undergrowth, slowly but steadily growing stronger. Mousewhisker finally saw a flash of silver between a tangle of brambles - he headed around the thorns and saw Silverflame standing triumphantly, squirrel clutched between her jaws. So she's hunting too, he thought with pleasant surprise.
"Any chance you'll share that?" Mousewhisker slipped out of the underbrush, eyes sparkling in jest as he padded towards her. "Or will you at least allow me to take it back to camp for you?" He teased. Mousewhisker circled Silverflame, brushing his pelt against hers. He actually had no intention of going to camp just yet though, not until he caught a squirrel of his own.

| The she-cat blinked, looking over at Mousewhisker. Her ears flew forward and she retracted her claws, falling to the ground and landing on her paws. She brushed against him, twining her tail with his as she set her squirrel down. "I can carry it." She purred softly. "Thank you, though." She pressed her muzzle lightly into his soft neck fur and flicked her tail at him. "And I'd be happy to share with you." She was reminded of how sour he had been toward her when he first started training her. She remembered hating Mousewhisker with every last hair on her pelt. She was glad her father had stepped in. Because now she loved him with every hair on her pelt.
She sat down and ate half the squirrel in a few hungry bites, swiping her tongue around her muzzle with a purr. "You can have the rest." She smiled at the tom, stepping back so he could have the remains. "Would you like a hunting partner?" She asked softly, her soft voice like beautiful bells. It'd been awhile since she hunted or patrolled with Mousewhisker, and she missed it. |

Mousewhisker's eyes slid down to Silverflame's muzzle pressed against his neck, and he felt a purr rising up in his throat. At the back of his mind rose a small spark of anger at himself for the way he had treated her before. But he'd make it up to her - he swore he would.
After Silverflame ate half of the squirrel, he leaned down and bit into it, the warm flavor seeping in between his teeth. He finished it with large, neat bites, feeling a little guilty for not catching his own prey. The next prey we catch will be for the Clan, at least. "Good catch," he meowed, blinking appreciatively at her. Only a few moons ago would it have been grudging praise from a prejudiced mentor to his apprentice; now it was a compliment to a clanmate, to the she-cat he loved. What a difference that made, to the way the words felt from his mouth. Instead of sliding out, heavy with reluctance, they flew out on bird's wings, light and genuine.
"Would you like a hunting partner?" Silverflame was sitting not too far from him, eyes smiling.
Mousewhisker stood up and padded past the silver she-cat, brushing her pelt as he past her. "That would be nice," he purred. He glanced back at her as he reached the edge of the clearing, dark green eyes inviting her to join him.
