LIGHTSTEPI've decided tonight I'm staying alive just kicking and screaming I'm staying alive blood boiling and steamingA lithe brown she-cat was standing by two mounds of earth beside a twisted tree. Grass had grown over the one hill and the other still freshly packed with drying mud. The canopy of leaves provided ample shade for the warrior and those resting underneath the ground. Two cats wrapped tightly in their graves like sleeping kits. “The sun is shining today.” Lightstep spoke in a half cheerful tone, trying desperately to hide behind a facade. She was right, the sun was unchallenged in its domain today with no clouds in sight. Just a big white ball in a pink sky turning blue. Early morning was receding and it would be sun-high by the time she got back to camp. Songbirds chimed in the tree and beyond in the moorland as they went about their busy day. Like she should be doing. Ever since the battle and devastating loss a few moons ago there weren’t many warriors to rebuild the camp and hunt. Everyday before the sun would rise Lightstep would go hunting for the clan, and then go about any other duties tasked to her. Despite the she-cats’ young age she was an excellent hunter having caught a hare and a fat pheasant. She would give these to the clan and eat later. One good thing about being as thin as herself was that she required little food to sustain herself. She normally ate the mice and small birds that were in the pile, and only ate the large catches if there was one or two other cats to share with.
Everyday though, before she went back to camp she stopped at these two mounds of earth and sat between them. Her brother was resting underneath the grassy hill, and her mother the mud one that started to have sprouts form in patches. She had the bury her. The elders that survived the onslaught were too weak and injured, so it was up to the returning warriors to bury the dead. A kit should not have to bury its mother. She had asked where her brother was buried, and with the help of another warrior carried her mother to the site and dug by herself for the whole day. It was lonely in the camp without her kin, and this way she could still talk to them and have their bodies as company. Even if their spirits had already joined Starclan. “Wheatheart, I hope ya’ll are taking care of mother up there.” She said as she looked up at the sky with squinted amber eyes. She could not see them now, but moons ago her mother told her that they were always watching. Lightstep hoped her brother and mother were watching her grow, and knew that she would have her revenge.
A strong breeze blew through the open land creating a wave of green in the moors. Soon the grass would turn golden and the earth would grow hard and cold. She wished Greenleaf would last forever, so her family could be comfortable. But for now she enjoyed the cool breeze as it ruffled her short dark brown fur. She let out a sigh knowing she would have to go back soon, back to the living. A few more moments wouldn’t hurt. She looked towards the border of trees that was Thunderclans’ abode. Surely the worst was over, right?OOC open to anybody who wants to talk about some feels with Light, or tell her to stop being depressed. TAG anyone WORD COUNT 563

Sun-high was going to be here soon, and the black cat was slowly making his way through the territory. His black fur made it warmer then necessary, and that was a bit of an issue at times during Green-leaf. But not all the time was it a bad thing, and Nightcloud didn't mind it too much. It wasn't a bad thing, and Nightcloud was always happy to come out during the day, knowing that it would be warmer for him. The open moor of the the territory was nice, and it wasn't long before he stumbled upon a young cat, tilting his head a little. He recognized the she-cat, but couldn't place the name of her really, though Nightcloud knew he'd been busy usually with other things to help the clan.
Two mounds were on either side of her, and she seemed to be be remember something, probably family. Past battles could have brought this about, and Nightcloud couldn't blame her for that, coming up behind her, making a slight noise to let her know he was there. And pretty quickly, Nightcloud remembered her name, Lightstep seeming to be quite a friendly cat in a lot of cases. It was always nice to have a sweet one around, but it was also good to have those who fight for things too. But at the time, it probably wasn't the best to be out here by herself, but it didn't seem to bother her too much about the whole situation.
"Would it be alright if I intrude? It seems like you might need the company."
After having said this, Nightcloud came to a spot to sit under the shade of the tree, a few paw steps away from her, watching silently as he waited for an answer. He knew that in some cases, when it didn't matter with clan affairs all the time, or even basic catching food, sometimes others needed a little time alone. Nightcloud would respect her wishes if she so chose him to not wanting him to be here.

LIGHTSTEPI've decided tonight I'm staying alive just kicking and screaming I'm staying alive blood boiling and steaming Even on the open moorland where one can smell, hear, and see everything the sun touches, Lightstep could not sense the cat that was coming up behind her. The rustling of the grass was dismissed as the wind, but a voice is something you couldn’t miss. The she-cats’ ears pricked up and swiveled around like mini-radars. Eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the sudden intrusion, had she really not noticed this cat coming up behind her? She must have really been out of it. Lightstep had the tendency to be a day dreamer when alone, not a great thing when out in the open... She’s been lucky that a hawk hasn’t tried to snatch her where she sat. The cat in question was Nightcloud, quite evident by the pitch black coat. He was a hard cat to miss in Windclan especially when out on the moors. Where Lightstep had the element of stealth on her side, partially thanks to her brown coat, she couldn’t imagine how hard it was for him to hunt during the day. Kind to think of it, it was odd to see him at this time of the day.
She cleared her throat and tried to regain some composure “Oh, hello Nightcloud funny seeing you at this time of day.” She half-heartedly laughed with a small smile. Yes, try and look peachy keen for the clan-mate, no need to drag him into things. She didn’t want to look like a wreck in front of one of her friends, even if she needed them. She was her mothers’ daughter, stubborn and unwilling to take help even if they really needed it. Nope. Bottling up her emotions and letting it explode later was the best route to take. It was the only route she knew. “I suppose I can, after all why waste a day like this alone?” She responded after a moment of silence. She wasn’t really alone, but Nightcloud provided a body that could talk back and provide some sort of bond with the living. Lightstep knew that she was ignoring those around camp after the incident, only speaking to them when spoken to. The brown she-cat was in a rut that had proven extremely difficult to climb out of.
Feeling awkward in silence she began to speak “Were you about to go out hunting? The prey is practically hoping over each other for space!” She exclaimed waiving her paw in a joking manner. It seemed like one couldn’t walk the length of a fox without crossing paths with a rabbit or have a bird fly over your head. “At least we know Windclan won’t go hungry this season.” Lightstep said, smiling at her own reassurance. Yes, this was good news indeed. Prey was running well everywhere as far as she knew, as no other clan has tried to steal their food. At least there was that.OOC yay got a response up finally!
