I'VE LOOKED AT CLOUDS THAT WAY, BUT NOW THEY ONLY BLOCK THE SUN ❝ WARM RAIN SPATTERED HER fur, a cool and refreshing sensation from the hot sun that was out just that morning. Mothpool was trudging back through the moorland and to the camp, feeling like a travel worn rogue who had wandered for days without rest. It had a been a long day for her, even though it was only sunhigh. It didn't help that her paws were now soggy from the muddy ground, the rain pelting her fur and beginning to blur her vision. She picked up the pace, speeding up her walk into a lope instead. Mothpool was already near the camp when she remembered she hadn't caught anything to show for that morning; she sighed. I'll catch some later. All she wanted right now was to scurry into the cozy and relative dryness of the camp. It was open to the sky, which Mothpool loved, but it also meant it was also open to the rain. WindClan cats in general didn't mind it so much since they had to grow used to it, but they fixed that problem with roofed dens for the nursery, elders and apprentices, and the warriors could just duck under a tightly woven clump of grass or in a crevice of one of the many large rocks scattered around the camp. When Mothpool finally padded into camp, she tried not to look so weather-beaten and... dirty. After a quick survey of her pelt, there were clumps of fur sticking up and dirt that had flew on when she was kicking up earth chasing rabbits. She headed for a corner of the camp where the tall rock blocked most of the rain and rapidly began to groom her herself. The sky was gray and overcast, the clouds thick and ominous. Mothpool absentmindedly wondered if a storm would be heading in. Once it started all the rabbits would be running into their dens, so she better head out before the rain could grow even worse. She stood up, amber eyes flickering over the camp. It would be nice to hunt with someone, if there was a free cat. 9C869A

[presto] WORD COUNT: 331 MUSE: meh MUSIC: one more time with feeling - regina spektor NOTES: on my iPod so sorry for mistakes. next post will be longer, probably TAGGED: mothpool [/presto] Stormwhisker Stormwhisker had a firm grasp of what he thought, what he wanted, and what he felt. He just had trouble allowing one to turn into another. He knew he was too negative. He hated how it made him feel. He wanted to loose his pessimism. It was a vicious, bitter cycle that left him drained and did nothing to support his deflated confidence. However, he took pleasure in the little victories. He hoped it would help him build up his fragile self-image. He was still a bit tentative and nervous as a mentor, but he was getting better. He was learning just as much as he was teaching, which made him think.
Stormwhisker was finished with training for the day, and hoping to relax. Knowing himself, he couldn't relax. He was always wound tight about something, worried about one thing or another. He wanted to be able to curl up and stop being so stressed, but he didn't. Stormwhisker couldn't help it. It was his nature to worry. It could be close to paranoia at times, which was dangerous to him. Having an apprentice gave him something to think on and keep him occupied. It was easier to stop thinking when exhausted.
He hadn't been in camp for very long. He was watching the clouds thicken and darken, and keeping an eye on the camp. He laid his head on his paws for a moment, thinking and feeling wierd. He disliked not having something to occupy his time, especially when there was a clan to be cared for. He glanced up from his spot where he was tensely lounging, drizzle dampening his fur, spotting Mothpool entering the camp. He didn't think much of it, until a few minutes later, when Mothpool appeared again, and seemed to search for something.
It took a bit of self convincing, but he got up, stretched his muscles, and wandered over to her. "Greetings Mothpool." He mewed, trying not to sound as awkward as he felt.

I'VE LOOKED AT CLOUDS THAT WAY, BUT NOW THEY ONLY BLOCK THE SUN ❝ AS HER EYES CAST ABOUT THE CAMP, she saw Stormwhisker lying down, head resting on his paws. She almost approached him, but she knew he had been training with Cherrypaw that morning, and he might not be ready to leave the camp again. Her eyes drifted past him. As she began to turn away, however, she saw him give a luxuriant stretch and pad over to her. "Greetings, Mothpool." He must've seen me looking. Her tail curled up in faint surprise as he headed toward her. Stormwhisker usually didn't initiate conversations with her - not because they weren't on friendly terms, but just because they didn't know each other that well. Now that she thought about it, the only times they'd talked (other than brief greetings) were on patrols of three or more. "Hey Stormwhisker," she meowed in greeting. "Are you up for some hunting?" The weather wasn't, that was for sure, but she hoped that wouldn't deter him. "I know it's raining," she said apologetically. "But the fresh-kill pile is looking low." Mothpool knew the last thing most cats wanted to do was go hunting and turn into a soggy mess, and hoped Stormwhisker wouldn't mind. She didn't think he'd be the cat to let that bother him, though. She blinked at him with warm amber eyes, not wanting to go hunting alone. She didn't want to seem to eager for a yes, and felt silly at how hopeful she was.

[presto] WORD COUNT: 287 MUSE: MUSIC: NOTES: bleh TAGGED: mothpool[/presto] Stormwhisker Stormwhisker never could sit still, it was just part of his wound tight nature. There was little sleeping and no relaxing. He had to have something to do, or his mind wandered and put him even further on edge. Hunting and patrolling usually gave him the distraction he needed, but during the night, he was restless and sleepless. It was odd for a cat not to be able to sleep, but Stormwhisker didn't mind. He found sleeping to be a waste of valuable time. Life was only so long, especially for a warrior, and he didn't want to spend his life being lazy. At the suggestion of hunting, Stormwhisker agreed. The weather was questionable, but he didn't mind. It was only weather. He found the rain to be quite refreshing at times, a nuisance, but refreshing. He made his decision quickly. There was little sense in saying no, accourding to the weather. It was either getting wet in camp or getting wet outside of camp.
"Why not." He shrugged. Stormwhisker would be glad to help out the camp, and thankful for the company. He wasn't sure how active the rabbits would be in the weather, but it was worth a try. "It will be good to get out."
Stormwhisker knew little about Mothpool. He had never really spent much time making bonds with his clanmates as he should have. It was embarrassing now, as a warrior. His siblings were living their own life and Morningbird was avoiding him. He hated how awkward it was around her. He also was ashamed on how few of his clanmates he knew. Was he really that anti-social. In a fleeting glimpse of positivity, he thought, there's no time like the present!

I'VE LOOKED AT CLOUDS THAT WAY, BUT NOW THEY ONLY BLOCK THE SUN ❝ the tip of her tail curled in anticipation as she waited for Stormwhisker's reply. After a moment's pause, he shrugged his okay. "Why not? It will be good to get out." Mothpool nodded in agreement. "It would," she meowed. She thought about where they could go hunting - she didn't feel like going anywhere near the ThunderClan border twice in one day, so anywhere else on the moors and even by horseplace was fine with her. The prey would probably be sheltering by now, so maybe they could flush them out from their dens. It was a hunting technique WindClan cats normally didn't use - unless it was raining, of course. "Let's see if anything is still out on the moors," Mothpool suggested. She started heading for the entrance of camp, calling back over her shoulder. "If not, we can always flush a rabbit out from its den." She was the smaller of the two, so she'd probably be the one squeezing into the den. Not always the most enjoyable, but it had to be done. Still, the thought of wet mud clinging to her back wasn't very appealing, and she couldn't help making a face. At least her back was to Stormwhisker. A rather apprentice-like thing to do, but once in a while it was okay. As she exited the camp and was immediately surrounded by the thick sea of grass, she wondered what it would be like, hunting with the reserved warrior. He didn't speak often - it would be a little early to predict anything about him. Mothpool wasn't a big talker herself and usually played the role of listener in conversation, so she could see their hunt being a rather wordless one. Silence didn't bother her, but maybe this was her chance to figure out more about Stormwhisker.
