It was dark. The only inches of light came from Silverpelt above and the occasional passing of a monster on the thunderpath, which was further away but still in sight. A light rain fell from the clouds above, but the character in the mist didn't pay much mind to it. ;A pair of pale green eyes glinted through the darkness as the young leader of Riverclan walked nervously down the river, occasionally glancing over across the border of Shadowclan. Two clans on the brink of war. Well, four for that matter. All because of one cat. But that wasn't the reason Geckostar was here. It was the night that the patrol was to clear the river, and to say the least, Geckostar wasn't ready. Beavers? They could survive that, right? And even if they didn't.. He had all nine lives. He would die over and over in order to save his clan. His own health wasn't the question.. It was Redstorms. He was unsure of how he would fare in the battle. He was still a bit skinny. How would it all play out? The leader still didn't know. It was all too soon to tell, and he wouldn't know until he was face to face with the fearsome creatures. Or worse, face to face with a rival clan. The forest was tense these days, and things just didn't seem to be going Riverclan way.
Hopefully they would figure something out. If not, so be it. Geckostar was worrying too much, as if rival clans and beavers weren't enough - he had the thought of his brother and his medicine cat coming with on this suicide mission. Would Shadowclan attack while he was gone? Or would they attack somewhere else? How could he leave Riverclan so undefended.. without their medicine cat? Either way, he knew Blacktail would make the right choice. He was a good deputy. Geckostar had to make things right among the clans once he returned. He may be the youngest leader, but he was not the most foolish. He wasn't one for leaving ties severed and staying in this feud. It was either war or peace. No in between. At the next gathering, something would be done about it. He was tired of being a sitting duck and doing nothing about the situation. It was time for a change.
The leader made his way down the river, looking back occasionally at his patrol. The stench of beaver quickly made its way into his nose and Geckostar stopped dead in his tracks. He looked back and nodded to his patrol. "They're here" was all that he could say, for a mile of fear had gripped the rest of him, like a choke hold.. To say it easily, he couldn't speak much. Geckostar's long, black claws slid out as he prepared for one of the biggest battles of his life. It wouldn't end well. But still, there was a glint of hope. Would Shadowclan hear the chaos and come by to help? That could possibly end the tension. The leader did not expect that, but a helping paw would always be welcomed, no matter the tension between clans. Geckostar continued down the river as he flicked his tail for his warriors to follow. He could barely make out the shadow of the large images lumbering around their nest. The nest that blocked their food, and weakened their clan. The nest that was blocking their river. It was time to win it all back.

BEAVER The beaver pair had only recently moved into its new home. The dam was nearly finished, but it had taken the two a fairly long time to get where they were, considering that they were only the first mating pair. Once they had finished building their dam, they would start to build their colony.
The two beavers were working on the dam when the larger male scented the cats. He quickly chirped at his mate, who then scented the cats as well. The two beavers began swimming towards the group of cats, clicking their teeth in warning. The male reached the riverbank first, making guttural noises to try and scare off the cats. The beavers were larger than the cats, but they weren't very quick on their feet.

I shouted out I loved you but you’re not here, you're not here
| The large tom was sniffing around for horsetail. They were running low and it was good to fight infection for wounds. He was nipping the stems when another strange smell invaded his scent glands and he raised his head, sniffing the air. His pelt prickled with the foreign scent and he crept closer, coming up beside Geckostar and Redstorm. His pelt bristled slightly at the sight of the large brown animals, and he held back from hissing. He watched the animals as they were suddenly alerted to something and he realized the wind was carrying their scent toward the beavers.
He looked anxiously at Geckostar, waiting impatiently to see what their leader would tell them to do. Surely not to retreat. These, whatever they were, were a threat to all of RiverClan, and especially apprentices who had yet to finish training. "Geckostar..." Heronflight whispered, aware that the beavers were aware of them but still having a need to be quiet. He turned his eyes back to the larger one as it made it's way toward them. |

The etched out shadows began to come to life as the beavers drew closer, the clicks of communication became louder. Geckostar tensed. He was ready for one of the most important battles of his life. Well, he wasn't exactly ready. The young leader had not been expecting this. They were more like badgers than dogs, so the kittypet who told him that was incorrect. Geckostar flexed his long legs as his short fur began to puff out and bristle, as he returned the warning with a loud hiss.
For a moment, he turned to his clan-mates. They were most likely more scared than he was. He had to be brave for his clan. The large tom gave a word of warning as the beavers approached closer. "They are bigger than us.. but are much slower. Use your speed to your advantage" yowled back to his warriors. The tom sank his long, hooked claws into the dirt. In and out as the beavers drew closer with each step. He was anxious. But more importantly, he was nervous. He didn't know the first thing about fighting off these beasts. He didn't even know if they would be able to clear their nest from the river.. But he did know one thing - they needed to try. The young leader believed in this patrol. They would get the job done.
Geckostar let out another hiss of warning and he padded toward the riverbank, beginning to get closer and closer with the male beaver. "Lets go" he hissed, more to himself than the beaver. The leader breathed heavily. It was time to fight back against what was stolen from them.

BEAVER The large male beaver lunged at GECKOSTAR, gnashing its long, strong teeth as he dove for the tom's forelegs. The smaller female beaver was more apprehensive. She slapped her tail on the ground a few times, waiting for redstorm and Wolfeye to attack first, all the while keeping a wary eye on heronflight. note: am i correct in saying that you told me you want gecko to lose a life, spider? just checking before i do anything rash ^^ also, don't worry about calculating the damage done to the beavers, i'll do it myself ^^ HEALTH AT 114/114

They were there.
The beavers. They were there. In all honesty, the biggest thing she had ever came across was a twoleg monster, however she didn't have to fight it. She had to doge. She had to be agile and quick. She had to control her panic. Would she have to do that this time? Probably.
Shadowberry was in fact comforted by the presence of Heronflight, her former apprentice. He had adapted into being a medicine cat so well, and she was proud; very proud. Their age difference wasn't a lot, but both of them had been able to work together even so, and it made her heart break to know that this battle could be his last; Heronflight's leg could put him in a way that he could show himself up to the beavers, and she was very concerned.
However, they had to carry on. The tortoiseshell-and-white she cat padded up to her leader to speak quickly. They were enough cats there to take apart their...Nest...by the look of it, and enough cats to battle the two brutes. Perhaps if the quickest cats intimidated the beavers and made them chase them, the others could take apart the nest. The slick, brown creatures did indeed look clumsy on the ground, and all the quicker cats would have to do was dodge water.
She whispered her plan to Geckostar, waiting for approval, when something caught her eye. The large beaver lunged toward the tom. And before she could think, Shadowberry leaped infront of her leader, bracing herself for the blow before her. But there was just enough time to unsheathe her claws and aim a clumsy blow at the huge creature-

I shouted out I loved you but you’re not here, you're not here
| The tom tensed to lunge when his leg buckled and he jolted forward slightly, with a hiss of annoyance, he swore in his mind. Of all the times it acts out, it has to be now! He lunged away from the beavers, unable to battle as well with only three legs. He took in the situation quickly. The male was going for Geckostar, and the female was heading for them. He crouched low into the tall grass, concealing himself. Even if he couldn't fight, there was something he could do. The tom slipped silently into the water, only lifting only his nose for air as he ducked back beneath the water and headed for the dam. He swam behind the mess, out of sight, and kept one eye on the beavers from the top of the dam as he started to pull the obstruction apart.
His leg was screaming with the effort of being used, but he tried his best to ignore the intense pain. He worked harder, trying to be quiet so the beavers wouldn't notice them. He especially kept an eye on the one targeting geckostar. One cat alone couldn't fight these things. They're as big as badgers! If not a little bigger... He thought, worried for his leader. He shook his head. Geckostar is strong... He'll be okay. All the same, please protect him StarClan. He thought worriedly. He turned back to his work and saw that despite his leg, there was now a dent in the dam. He moved lower, carefully, his claws digging into the branches and debris.
He hissed quietly as he tore one of his claws trying to get a particularly heavy stick out of the way, and blood started to stain his brown paw, but he didn't care. I need to do this. For RiverClan! He thought determinedly and kept clawing at the dam. He kept one eye on his clan mates as the dent he had made grew steadily bigger. He clawed at the mud holding it all together. Maybe that would help. He kept working, his leg all but feeling like it had burst into flames. |

The tall tom looked to Shadowberry and returned no words but a small nod. His focus was mainly on the male beaver. He watched as the creature lumbered toward her. "Do as Shadowberry says. It will work" the leader yowled into the air, stepping back from the beaver as he drew closer. Geckostar began to push his feet into the ground, preparing to lunge on top of the clumsy beast.. but he was cut short.
All in the blink of an eye, the beaver was rumbling toward him. The tom was bracing for impact. Would this be enough to kill him? Geckostar clamped his pale eyes shut.
But nothing came. Instead, there was Shadowberry. And for a brief moment, the tom felt horrible. His medicine cat only had one life to spend. He had nine. It was a waste. Geckostar understood the need to protect the leader, but medicine cats were more important. Geckostar didn't know how to save lives. Any old cat could lead a clan.
Instead, rage filled up inside the young tom. The reckless tom leaped through the air with one thing in mind - landing on the male beavers back.

BEAVER The male beaver clicked his teeth at the large tom when suddenly @clovershine dove into the way, swiping at his face. He shrieked in pain, giving the GECKOSTAR enough time to leap onto his back, claws digging into the beaver's skin. He writhed under the pain, but the tom held on. As a last resort, the beaver flipped onto his back, crushing the tom. As he flipped right-side up, he clumsily whacked the tom with his tail and bared its teeth at the she-cat The female beaver's eyes widened as she saw, not one, but two cats came after her. She tried to hold her ground, but then Wolfeye and redstorm attacked. She wailed in pain as she felt the claws and teeth sink into her flesh, and she struggled, trying to escape. Suddenly she saw heronflight tearing apart the dam. The dam! She frantically bit and swiped at the cats in an effort to get away in order to protect her home. note: feel free to powerplay the beavers guys they're supposed to get beat up anyway ^^ HEALTH AT 49/114 WHEN THE HEALTH TURNS RED, THE BEAVERS RUN AWAY!

when the devil wants to dance with you , YOU BETTER SAY NEVER because a dance with the devil might last you forever - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It was a simple day in ShadowClan. The prey was swelling in numbers with the blessing of Green-Leaf and it seemed to be doing well for the clan. One thing was for certain with more prey also came more bold predators that were not cats of the clan. There had been some reports near the lake side of what appeared to be badger scents but for a few days they were no longer fresh but stale. Galestorm still was overly cautious. While he valued the protection of his clan and as a deputy to them must assure their safety he still had a slight distaste for majority of his clan. It seemed trivial to his sister Larksong, who always told him he ought not judge them for the crimes of the cats of their youth. Galestorm was firm headed, eager, and always ready to beat the path with his own skull if he had to. He was definitely hard headed. The gray tom kept his head low toward the ground that surrounded the lakeside when he caught a hint of fresh badger scent. Jade eyes suddenly became alert as he quickly padded across the lakeside until the borders broke and he was on the free lands of the farm. He kept going out of sheer curiosity to see where it would lead to.
The free lands led him to the border between RiverClan and the freelands. He nearly stumbled over himself to keep from going over the border. His jade eyes searching the stretch of grassy terrain. Hm. Well at least it would seem they weren't his problem anymore. The tom turned on his heels ready to return home and report his findings when a yowl sounded into the distance. He knew he shouldn't care. It wasn't his problem. Words racked in the tom's mind warning him not to turn around again. Another yowl sounded in pain and the deputy did the only thing he could he whipped his paws around and raced into the unfamiliar territory. His ears were alert and bent to accept any sounds that would offer him any assistance. Galestorm raced on until he came to the abrupt edge of the river that's when he heard another cry further downhill. Jolting his paws down the muddy hillside he finally reached the noise. His gray pelt burst from behind reeds as his jade orbs encountered what appeared to be a RiverClan patrol and two badgers.
Galestorm knew nothing good would have come out of trampling through to help others of another clan but he didn't care he was already to deep to care now. One particular cat caught his eye Eaglestar latched firmly to the larger badger's back. The badger rolled onto the hard ground, rising with the missing form of Geckostar. Galestorm shot forward spying the RiverClan leader as the badger's heavy tail slammed into the leader. The deputy dropped low to the ground to not be noticed by the lumbering brute of a creature instead choosing to get the leader out of danger. Galestorm latched onto the scuff of the leader dragging him a few feet away he didn't dare check the tom for breathing or anything else. He wasn't a medicine cat even if the leader was fading there was nothing more he could do than to get him away from the danger. The male badger now towered toward the small form of another female riverclanner. Galestorm did the only thing he could do, he launches himself into the space between the badger's arm and waist with open claws. His teeth latching firmly into the vital space of the badger's throat but the creature was wailing him around so wildly now that it felt the sting of the deputy's claws.
His jade eyes were growing weak as his bodice was slammed from one tree to the dirt and back again, but he held tight until the she-cat was out of the creatures reach. Finally, the badger slammed him into a larger tree. The tom's lungs were stunned for a moment as he went slack against the badger's frame dropping down into the fertile grass. The breath had been knocked from him entirely, and he laid there in hopes the badger wasn't planning a counter attack. Wobbling to his paws with sheers claw marks on his right flank he made his way toward more cats to help them stand their ground against the beasts. Parting his jowls apart he let out a snarl that would surely send any kit running back into it's mother. Crimson splatted against his fluffy pelt but he kept his ground his breathing hard as he focused his eyes intently on both badgers hoping they would now it was a losing battle for them. He'd barely made a dent in that badger but he hoped he had distracted it long enough for anyone to check the leader of RiverClan. Maybe a medicine cat was among them? Thoughts danced in his mind but they were quickly becoming hazy as he stumbled to hold his position. A medicine cat. Yes, that was a great idea. Hopefully one was here.
