It's Never Easy[redstorm]

The large tom limped heavily into camp as dawn light started to brighten the clearing. Mud covered his paws, bits of grass stuck between his toes in his claws. His tail dragged in the dust and his head hung slightly as he hobbled to the medicine clearing. He entered the dim medicine clearing and looked at Shadowberry's... No... His den. He heaved a sigh. What would he do without her? Who would help him interpret signs from StarClan? The loneliness hit him like a blow to the gut and his legs started to shake. He collapsed, his muscles refusing to hold his weight and he lay in the soft grass, unmoving. His eyes closed as he listened to the sounds of camp. Would anyone else miss his mentor as much as he? <p>

"You took her too soon, StarClan..." His voice was barely a whisper. His grief was numbing the pain of his broken leg as he laid on it, disrupting it from how it was healing. The shadows in the den slowly moved across the grass with the moving sun, and Heronflight still lay in the grass, legs slightly stretched out and his tail stretching toward the entrance to the clearing. Today was his day to grieve. He didn't want to do anything, didn't want to move or heal others or gather supplies or even eat or drink. Today was his day to grieve Shadowberry. Tomorrow... I will do my duties tomorrow... He thought to himself. He could still smell his mentor, her scent fading more and more with every passing moment. Why did you have to die?
