[presto] words325 notesThis thread is open to any and all SC cats who may want to meet him at the border and escort him to the camp, or just Eaglestar himself. taggedeaglestar[/presto] Brokenface ● Medicine Cat of ThunderClan ● prose | dialog ● The sun was just peeking over the mountains when the medicine cat reached ThunderClan. He passed through the forest unnoticed, keeping away from the dawn patrol on purpose. He had a mission to see to, and having cats ask him how his trip was, or volunteer to catch him something to eat, or escort him to the camp, would just get in the way.
Instead, he kept low and moved quickly through the brush. The forest was still so dark, but with his keen eyes, he navigated the familiar territory as though it were sunhigh. The entire way, his mind was buzzing with the message he held on the tip of his tongue. Aspencloud's face was still clear in his memory, making his paws rush along faster through ThunderClan. Just what he would say, he didn't really know. The message was so cryptic, it felt unfinished. How would Eaglestar react when he found out what the long-dead medicine cat had to say? Brokenface had only seen Eaglestar at the Gatherings. He didn't really know what to expect from the leader.
He neared the ShadowClan border. The stench of pine and rotting leaves hit his nose, making him slow his pace until he walked casually up to the scent line. Despite his position as a medicine cat, he didn't care to press his luck by striding into the heart of ShadowClan, looking around for the russet tom. Tensions may not be strained with ShadowClan, but he didn't care to test the water.
Instead, the ginger tom sat a tail-length away from the border and waited for a passing patrol. He only hoped they came by quickly so he could pass on the dead cat's message and go home. He was so tired, and hungry. 'Passing on another clan's dream.. How mousebrained.' A waste of time; but fearing that angry StarClan cat's wrath if he didn't at least try to pass the dream along, he would wait.

I shouted out I loved you but you’re not here, you're not here
| Belly low with his paws gliding over the earth, his amber eyes focused on the fat squirrel ahead of him. The wind was blowing toward him, so the squirrel had no idea that it was being hunted. Just a little closer... He took a few more silent steps and leaped, but the squirrel scrambled up a tree. He raced to follow when he realized what had startled the squirrel. The smell of ThunderCan invaded his senses and he flicked his tail with surprise. The wind had carried cat scent toward him, and he followed it to the border. What he saw surprised him. "Brokenface?" The large tom approached ThunderClan's medicine cat and tilted his head, looking down on the other, since Eaglestar was larger than most cats, he was only slightly bigger than Brokenface.

Eaglestar sat, curling his tail around his paws. "What can I help you with, Brokenface?" The clan leader thought it a cruel name to call a cat, and he felt awkward saying such a name. But he couldn't help it... His ears flicked and he focused on the current situation. Brokenface looked like a cat on a mission, and Eaglestar was determined to help him in any way he could. Still, though, his stomach grumbled. Eaglestar hadn't eaten in two days, ensuring his clan's bellies were full before his. And he denied himself food since the freshkill pile had been empty the last two days, whatever prey he caught going to his warriors and apprentices first, but when it was empty, the leader would hunt. He intended that squirrel to be for himself, but StarClan must not have wanted it to be so. He would catch something for himself later... Maybe.

[presto] words378 notesYay for not wanting to go to bed! \o/ taggedeaglestar[/presto] Brokenface ● Medicine Cat of ThunderClan ● prose | dialog ● Only having sat alone for a few minutes, a sleepy Brokenface was already starting to miss his nest. He slowly closed his eyes, enjoying the calm quiet of the morning. Even the twittering of birds welcoming the new day didn't bother him while he sat. It didn't take long for him to begin nodding off, his head lopping sideways until he moved just enough to jolt himself back awake. Blinking, he yawned and stood to stretch.
As he arched his back, and was starting to settle back down, he heard his name. The tom watched the russet warrior pad up to the border, sitting a comfortable distance away from him. It pleased him that the leader decided to welcome him and not a large patrol of cats who may or may not be pleased to see a ThunderCan cat at their border; medicine cat or not.
He had to look up to lock eyes with the leader; Rowanstar's height towering him by half a head perhaps. Even so, he felt oddly welcomed by the surprisingly peaceful ShadowClan cat. Perhaps the tales of ShadowClan cats being gruff and cruel were unwarranted after all? When the other cat spoke to him, the orange tom could have sworn he flinched inwardly at using Brokenface's chosen name. The medicine cat wasn't sure if he should grin or not. He'd picked that cruel jab during a time when he wasn't treated kindly in his clan. It was meant to be a lasting joke; "haha, the ugly cat with the broken face is now in charge of keeping you mange-pelts alive". But Eaglestar was innocent to all that, and now Brokenface felt a stab of sympathy for him.
Clearing his mind, he wondered if he should ask about Rookclaw, but thought better of it. Aspencloud hadn't even answered when he asked him, so why should he expect Eaglestar to? Besides, where the lazy medicine cat was didn't matter. And his nest was calling him. Brokenface dipped his head, showing respect. "Are you alone, Eaglestar? I bring a message that is for your ears only." He glanced around, and scented the air, but since they were at the border it was hard to pick out individual cats with ThunderClan and ShadowClan scent mixing so thickly.

I shouted out I loved you but you’re not here, you're not here
| Eaglestar blinked, ears angling backward. "A message? About what?" He asked. He was aware that Rookclaw was gone, he'd had to be blind to not notice, but why was ThunderClan delivering messages? Was Rookclaw unreachable? Unable to go home. His pelt started to bristle, his tail fluffing up. It took effort to make his fur lay flat again, his tail smoothing out. If ShadowClan didn't have a medicine cat, what would happen to his clan?! They were vulnerable to injuries that would be hard to treat, illnesses with medicine only Rookclaw knew what to treat with. His ears flattened as he closed his eyes, picturing the destruction of his clan.

His long, curved claws slid out, burying themselves in the leaves and dirt. He forced himself to calm down with a bit of visible effort. His fur flattened, his ears came forward as he opened his eyes, and he sheathed his long claws. Maybe it was a good message. Though by the way Brokenface was acting, his hopes were in vain. He waited impatiently to hear what StarClan had to say. How bad of news was it? Was someone going to get hurt? Was something coming to attack his clan? He forced himself to stay calm. Whatever it was, he'd deal with it. StarClan lend me strength... He prayed quietly.

Brokenface ● Medicine Cat of ThunderClan ● prose | dialog ● The leader became agitated. Brokenface pulled his ears back, unsure how to handle the change in Eaglestar. He hadn't answered him, instead he threw two questions back at him. As annoying by that as he was, he took the time to sweep his eyes back across the dark forest behind Eaglestar while the leader was left to his thoughts.
Bringing his eyes back to the russet tom, Brokenface narrowed his eyes. 'Does he expect I'm going to attack him or something?' Why else would he be unsheathing his claws like that? The medicine cat shifted his weight, rolling the pressure from the left front paw to the right. His short snout brought his mouth down into a natural frown of sorts, accentuated by the way his lips twitched while trying to fight back the need to yawn.
So what if he had ShadowClan warriors hidden among the bushes. He shouldn't even be here, not when his clan was waiting for him to come home. "Rookclaw didn't meet us last night. Aspencloud interrupted my dream in his stead," the cat growled, obviously displeased by being called on by another clan's ancestor. "Since Rookclaw couldn't be bothered to leave his nest, Aspencloud gave me a message for you."
The cat paused, unsure how to word the dream now that he was facing the leader. He had spoke of darkness, and it had meant nothing to him at the time. But now that he sat here, his jaw almost dropped at the fear that suddenly welled up in him. Darkness.. Both Aspencloud and Rowanstar had been frightened, and the latter mentioned that Littlestar was missing in the world of the dead. Brokenface forced down the surge of emotion, remembering that the other cat sat waiting on him.
"He spoke of darkness coming to the lake. He said ShadowClan must be ready." Pressing his lower jaw against his upper, he ground his teeth for a minute, deciding if he wanted to add Rowanstar's warning as well. It had been meant for ThunderClan, but if it was true and Littlestar was on the loose, ShadowClan had to know too.
"There's more.. Littlestar isn't in StarClan. They don't know what happened to her." He felt crazy as he nearly whispered the final part of his grim message, "they believe she's still here.. Somewhere. And if she is, ShadowClan must be ready to defend itself." But it wasn't ShadowClan that Brokenface feared for. He gave himself away by glancing sideways into his home territory, and to the moors hidden behind the trees.
